In this event, each Cub Scout constructs a small sailboat using a kit provided by their pack. The boats are raced in a 10-foot-long rain gutter filled with water. Instead of using motors or paddles, Scouts propel their boats by blowing air into the sail, either directly or through a straw. The first boat to reach the end of the gutter wins the race. Races are typically conducted in a double-elimination format, ensuring that every participant has multiple opportunities to compete.

Pack 76 is a very active unit. We do many events throughout the year with our pack and community. We participate with conservation and service projects, which help our community. There are many events that happen throughout the year in which your family and scout can participate if you choose. Many scouts and their families are very active with our pack events. Keep an eye out for the monthly newsletter and calendar to see each upcoming event.

We are apart of the Brazos Valley District. Our district puts on many events for scouts and adults that want to volunteer and be apart of scouting. These events are held on a bigger scale and include the units within our district. They have similar events that the pack does, along with many opportunities for growth, leadership development, and more, offered at the district level. These events are announced in a monthly newsletter, and posted on the district calendar, where you are able to register for these events.

We are apart of the Longhorn Council. Council helps facilitate many of our larger scouting events and fundraising. They help support the district and units with their needs. Council has events on a larger scheme. There are scouting camps, leadership training, camporees, and the like that occur at the Council level. These events are listed in the monthly newsletter and on the Council website.

At many of these levels, there are fundraising opportunities, scholarships, and some have no charge. Speak with Christine or Eric if you have any questions or need assistance.
