Recommended Camping Checklist

While you’re packing, use this handy camping checklist to make sure you

don’t forget anything important and make sure to stock up on the things you need. 

Campsite

  • Tent (and stakes)

  • Sleeping bags

  • Sleeping pads or cots

  • Camping pillow

  • Headlamps or flashlights (and extra batteries)

  • Camp chairs

  • Lights for your campsite

  • Firewood

Kitchen​

  • Mess Kits for Everyone in Your Party

    • Cup, Plate, Flatware Optional: Bowl, Mug  ​

  • Refillable water bottles

  • Cooler

  • Ice or ice packs

  • Matches/lighter/firestarter

  • Dish soap

  • Scrubber/sponge

  • Trash/recycling bags

  • Dish towel

If Cooking for Yourself at Camp:

  • Cooking pots/roasting sticks

  • Cooking utensils

  • Sharp knife

  • Cutting board

Food

  • Drinks for your campsite

    • (Note: water and Lemonade provided)

  • Snacks for your campsite

Tools

  • Multi-tool

  • Duct tape

  • Paracord 

  • Mallet or hammer (for hammering tent stakes)

  • Small broom and dustpan

Clothing & Footwear

  • Class A uniform (button down)

  • Class B uniform (pack shirt)

  • T-shirts

  • Pants/shorts

  • Long-sleeve shirts

  • Lightweight fleece or jacket

  • Boots or closed toed shoes suited to the terrain

  • Socks 

  • Underwear

  • Sleepwear

Additional items for rainy and/or cold weather:

  • Rainwear (jacket and pants)

  • Long underwear

  • Warm insulated jacket or vest

  • Fleece pants

  • Gloves or mittens

  • Warm hat

Health & Hygiene​

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

  • Toiletry kit

  • Quick-dry towel

  • Prescription medications

  • First-aid kit 

  • Sunscreen

  • Insect repellent

  • Itch cream

  • Electronic devices E.G. Tablets, Game systems, etc.

  • Bows and arrows of any kind

  • Pets

  • Alcohol

  • Firearms

 Scouts are not permitted to carry pocket knives until AFTER they earn their Whittling Chip. We thank you for helping us enforce this rule for the safety of all our scouts.
